Sadly I haven't had time to play, and tonight is my first chance playing in over a month. So imagine my surprise when I sighted in on some fool dancing in my scope, clear enough that I can see his neck... and pull the trigger, but no hit... So I play a few rounds, I notice that my head shot damage is slightly increased on some targets, and largely increased on others, 180%-280%... But my range is drastically lower... I finally log out to read the 'hotfix' notes... You say you reduced the range 'a little'... Previously, my ideal range for finding my target was north of 400 meters... I have pictures I took of my longest kill, 596.92 meters... Now I have to crawl in close... Congratulations!!! Might as well rid yourselves entirely of the sniper class. As I mentioned in a previous post, your premise is in space, in the far future, so tell me why a sniper rifle that has a downrange speed of greater than 2500m/s has a range less than 1/6th that distance? There are modern snipers, like in recent history that have made shots in excess of 1000 meters... 1.47 miles, 2474 meters... And I can't even get scope data or even hope to hit someone at 400 meters in the game.
Please tell me what you're basing this insanely pathetic range on? Who decided this wonderful plan to make snipers move in closer? Someone have a personal beef against them? I like that you increased the magazine on the Kalioka sniper rifle, (yeah I know I spelled that wrong) now I may actually have a chance to drop a heavy... oh wait, who am I kidding, he's gonna run up on me and beat me to death with a stick before I'll get off enough shots to hurt him...
I love how my prototype sniper rifle has a range less than the militia equipment I trained with when I started playing.
We need LONGER range on the sniper rifle. Not shorter. We should be allowed to see, and hit our target at 800 meters. I'll even take a damage penalty for every 100 meters past 500, I'm ok if I even have to retrain my shooting to 'lead' my target at ranges over 500 meters. But you got to give us the range. Make it so the other team CANNOT afford to ignore us, make it so they have to get snipers out on their team to locate and remove us, because nothing else can get to us... Stop hurting the class.
And to all you nay sayers, and people crying about snipers popping you at extreme ranges, stop holding still, run in erratic patterns, don't just 'jump' around, and better yet, get snipers on your team. Oh the sniper is this, the sniper is that, you play your way, I'll play mine. It's hard work finding good places to hide, good places that you don't look for me, that my team mates dismiss, and I can klaxon you when you stand still long enough.
Sniping is about LOS to target, maximizing potential targets while limiting the places they can 'get' you from. Sniping is also camping, the more shots we can take from a specific position, the higher our score. If you want to oust a sniper from position, grab a rifle and hammer home the point that you know where we are... Snipers are safer if they don't have to move after every shot. The more running around I do the more likely I am to get shot.
And if you keep making rifles that AREN'T labeled 'SNIPER' out distance our prototype gear, you should just do away entirely with the class. This is beyond stupid...
